Post #10: Two-judge panel for Apple vs. Samsung patent litigation
Surprisingly,
the federal court in Australia appointed two judges to hear the initial case about
Apple and Samsung patent war. It would be interesting to see if the two judges
have different opinions on the case. I wonder how much public resources Apple
and Samsung are using with these complex cases. Slowly I realized that this
patent war is never going to stop between the two giants. I feel like instead
of spending the money on innovation, they are spending money to fight for being
the last giant standing. I understand the importance of protecting ones
innovation, especially how much it will affect the company’s future. However, I
feel like they do not understand that they are the people who slow down their
innovation. By suing another company, they also suffer from losing time in
innovation. How much more of these money and public resources are going to be
drained from the patent war?

In reality, Apple’s patent cases against Samsung were a tactic to curb the explosive growth of the Galaxy. We should actually thank Apple for being a much-needed check on Samsung’s expanding empire. In turn, Samsung has provided a check on Apple.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. I have no idea why they keep suing one another when Apple buys products from Samsung and they had such great relations. These companies should know that their innovation will be taken once it hits the market just how the concept of touchscreen phones blew up once Apple came out with the first iphone. Similarly to how camera phones suddenly blew up when the first one came out. No consumer is going to buy a phone SOLELY on the camera or whatever innovation these products are suing one another about. There is more to that than they are suing for. Instead of wasting money on litigations they should spend money on RD to both stay in the market and compete with one another.
